Good God, now there are people arguing that the white-washing of Khan in ‘Star Trek into Darkness’ is okay because ‘Have you ever thought that names aren’t genetic, so a white guy can be named Khan?’

Just — NO ONE was arguing…

Yes.  And people also have to realize that this alternate universe doesn’t grant license to just do whatever the hell they want-especially in regards to Khan.  

Everything that happened prior to the attack on the U.S.S. Kelvin happened exactly the same in both universes.  So the Botany Bay lifting off from Earth in the late 90s/early 00s (whenever Khan was run out of town-I don’t quite remember) occurred in both universes.  It was the same event in both universes.  The two didn’t diverge until about 270 years later..
